VOICE OF DEMOCRACY
Three Washington Township High School students have won the annual Voice of Democracy youth essay-writing contest sponsored by the local chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Juniors Marissa Lucca and Lisa Amoroso placed second and third, respectively. Sydney is no stranger to this contest. Her persistence paid off, and now she has won first place. We congratulate her, her fellow classmates who earned distinction and all those students who participated.
Her third such entry into the scholarship program, sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lally knew she did her best work when writing in narrative style. That latter was a surprise, as she thought the presentation was just for the former. I was very excited.
