Gol Gumbaz is one of the best heritage building located in Bijapur district of Karnataka state of India. Gol Gumbaz is located at Bijapur , now called Vijayapura , in the Karnataka state of India, at a distance of about kilometers from the state capital Bengaluru. There is a story of King and his lover Rambha related to the monument. Rambha was a dancer and loved the king. Both used to sit on opposite sides of the gallery and talked to each other. Later on, Rambha jumped off the gallery and had a last wish to be buried aside from the king instead of his wife. The construction was incomplete and the death of Adil Shah took place.

The structure consists of a massive square chamber measuring nearly 50 m ft on each side and covered by a huge dome The dome is supported on giant squinches supported by groined pendentives while outside the building is supported by domed octagonal corner towers. The Dome is the second largest one in the world which is unsupported by any pillars.
